Proprioreception is a real thing, and if you wear Hokas or any other massively overly padded shoe or boot of ANY kind will greatly diminish propriorecption. ANYTHING you can do to help your brain and body give you more feedback on every step you take then you will HAVE to improve. Duh
I have these boots too and agree with most points. I didn’t experience the pain at the heel top. Also I find I don’t get blisters like I would in rigid boots because instead of your feet moving inside and against them, they just move with your feet and you get no rubbing. I also used to get hot spots with toes rubbing against each other, but not with these. It’s not a good idea to wear them in the city as the lugs will wear off quickly, but on natural surface it’s fine. Mine have black Michelin soles and they smell like tires.
I really struggle with finding shoes wide enough, there isn’t a hiking boot nearly wide enough for my feet, thru hiking on the widest they had made me almost lose my little toes! Switched to barefoot shoes and I haven’t looked back, might need to pick these up if I want to be able to comfortably thru hike again

So they’re uncomfortable and you can only do 6 miles in them??😂 good job the laces sound decent otherwise you would have wasted £200.
