The Danner Mountain Light. The best hiking boot. Also the boot that was in “Wild” starring Reese Witherspoon. To some people these are one and the same. Either way the Danner hiking boot is getting really trendy this year and by that I mean it probably was and I missed the wave. It’s the leather, waterproof, Gore-tex lined, boot from the 70’s. Anyways, today we are looking at one of the best* hiking boots in the world and comparing it to the newest best hiking boot in the world: The Merrell MOAB 3.
Best is very hard to define!
Bye.

The Iron Snail is a men’s fashion vlog starring a young man named Michael and featuring a snail no bigger than a quarter. The two are set on taking over the world of fashion by creating a clothing line to end all clothing lines. Until then, we’re here to tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the best clothing out there, from the highest quality raw denim jeans to the warmest jackets to the sturdiest boots…the Iron Snail has got you covered. (written by Taylor, though Michael is sometimes known to talk about himself in the third person… xoxo)

I shall never buy Merel again. They are poorly made and fail after a few hours of use.
Only men with little girlie narrow feet can wear Danner, for those of us who’s feet are directly in proportion to the rest of our bodies, forget it. Merrell on the other hand makes up to 4x wide shoes.
Man, I like both these boot companies but I assure you the Moab 3’s are not quality anymore. From November of 23 to November of 25 I have run through three pairs of Moab 3’s. The first pair, the tread was completely flat in 9 months. Second pair, the stitching started falling apart by six months. The back of the heel opened at 9 months. The third pair, the sole split from the boot in 3 weeks and the stitching fell apart in under a month. Merrill is no longer quality. I have a pair of 8 inch Merrill’s that are nice but not rugged either.
You’re going on a hike and look at your collection of boots which is larger than most of us. What do you wear? I’m in a pair of Asolo Fugitive GTX now after using Merrell Moab for years. I’m in Alaska. (I’ve found Danner to be too narrow, I’m in a wide Asolo, never require wide in any other shoe.)
You should check out the German shoemaker Meindl. They basically invented the outdoor boot and have been around for 300 years. (No joke.)
